Christmas in July campaign launched
BHA Brisbane has launched its inaugural “Christmas in July – Give the Gift of Hearing” campaign.
The campaign aims to find unwanted or unused hearing aids in the community that can be donated to the campaign.
The devices are then used for BHA’s Hearing Access Program, a program built to increase accessibility to hearing devices for those Queenslanders in need.
“While some government programs exist to provide hearing aids for those with hearing loss, like the NDIS or the Hearing Services program, many people fall through the gaps,” BHA Business Manager Tony Whelan said.
“What we aim to do, in partnership with audiology clinics, is provide an opportunity for those people to obtain devices to suit their needs at a lower cost than would have been previously possible.”
The program has been in a trial phase for the past 12 months with new partner clinics recently added to expand the program’s reach throughout the state.
“We thank our patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeanette Young AC PSM – Governor of Queensland, for her support of this campaign, and urge Queenslanders to look through their drawers to locate any devices that may be of better use in someone’s ears.”
