Consumer Advisory
Ads Offering Better Hearing Australia Hearing Aids
Better Hearing Australia Brisbane has recently been made aware of online ads offering hearing aids under the name “Better Hearing Australia” and/or variants thereof.
We want to make it clear that Better Hearing Australia does not sell hearing aids. We are a not-for-profit advocacy and support organisation, and we have no affiliation with these ads, devices, or the companies behind them.
These ads may be a misleading marketing tactic using our name to garner consumer trust or cause confusion.
Our strong advice to consumers is:
- Do not respond to unsolicited emails, texts, or ads offering hearing aids or related devices.
- Never provide personal or financial information in response to unsolicited offers.
- Consult with a qualified hearing health professional before considering any hearing aid or device purchase.
- Review the ACCC fact sheet: Hearing aids and devices—information to help make an informed choice.
- Be aware that in Australia, any product sold as a “hearing aid” must be registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) to ensure its safety and effectiveness.
If you’ve come across a suspicious ad or message promoting Better Hearing Australia devices or hearing aids, please do not act on it but, if you are able, forward a screenshot of the ad, where it appeared and any promoted link to us so we can attempt to have these ads removed.
